Sophie Tremblay

Biography

Hello.
My name is Sophie.
I am 31 years old, and I inhabit a woman's body in motion. I navigate its gentle and rebellious waters, with the complexity and beauty that emanates from them.

I dance to defend my body-territory, to extend it to its full length and to discover new spaces, new sensations.
I'm trying to connect with it, I want to feel the vibration right down to the tips of my hairs.

I love poetry.
I get it from my mother.
I love words, beautiful words. I love the details of everyday life, those that make us smile when we take the time to pay attention to them.

I also like adventures.
I inherited that from my father.
Adventures like moving to Gaspésie at 18, like living on a sailboat for a few weeks, like long journeys carried by a van to the other side of the world.
Adventures like those of the circus and dance.

I am lucky to have inherited these two loves.
It allows me to live my life with passion, in a world with a little more love and mutual connection, and with the certainty that everything is exciting and that everything is always possible.
discover.

Artistic approach

I dance because it allows me to reclaim my body; to be an angry woman, an energetic woman, a sensual woman. I feel entitled to inhabit it without anyone criticizing the way I move. This body, my body, me.

I question the right way to politicize a body, to allow it to take its place
in discussions about society. A society that moves so fast that we no longer take the time
to revolt.
I am convinced that taking the time to feel my body is a political act in itself.
I know that too many of us have forgotten it.
In my solo performance, I will address the loneliness of women by questioning the injunction of the Good
Wife and that of the Devoted Mother.
For me, it's also about understanding that I'm on the verge of making these choices. At 31, what will happen?
of my future?
