Summer Intensive 2026

For over 20 years, I’ve supported artists in their creative work—as a mentor, artistic advisor, and outside eye. My work is grounded in deep listening and ongoing dialogue with both the artist and the work. I step in to clarify dramaturgy, shape movement, support the process, and strengthen the piece’s structure.

Biography

Stéphanie Decourteille is a movement-based artist, choreographer, and educator. Professionally trained in ballet and contemporary dance, she has spent over twenty years working across performance, creation, teaching, and artistic mentorship.

Her first solo, Vertiges—also released as a dance short film—brought international visibility and affirmed a distinctly physical choreographic voice.

Based in Montréal since 2004, she teaches contemporary dance through master classes, training classes, workshops, and intensive programs, working with dancers and interdisciplinary artists. She has been invited to teach in a range of contexts, including Ballets Jazz Montréal, Ballet Preljocaj, En Dance (Rhapsody James) in New York, and École de danse de Québec. Her teaching is both technical and choreographic, with a strong emphasis on floorwork.

In 2018, she founded BIG BANG, an intensive program in contemporary dance and creation in Montréal, designed to support artists in technical development and solo creation.

Stéphanie also collaborates on projects in dance, circus, theatre, performance, and film.
