Noée Mercier
Biography
My name is spelled Noée, with an “e” at the end. I love it that way.
I love Quebec City. It feels like home.
I have loved circus since I was five, and Chinese pole since I was fifteen.
I love learning languages, movements, sports, and people.
All of these things nourish who I am.
I love learning who I am, even though I still don’t fully know who “me” is.
For now, I know that I love speaking French, Portuguese, and English.
I know that I love writing beautifully, and the little notebooks I can write in.
I know that I love dancing and moving, but also my bed, naps, the softness of waking up, and the morning sun through the window.
And above all, I know that I love to love.
Artistic approach
I recently noticed that there were many stars in my life. I find them beautiful, so within the context of Big Bang, I wanted to explore them. Through a stream of thoughts, I became interested in dreams, in what they mean, and in the worlds they carry us into.
I draw inspiration from a dream journal, from the sensations of my body affected by fatigue, and from the repetition of movement.
My work revolves around one question: is it possible to sleep while dancing?
