Cédric Ali

Biography

Cédric is a sedentary nomad who has explored several cities in search of a place to put down roots. Leaving France allowed him to give more time to his art and to broaden his perception of the world.

In 2021, he released the EP Mille et un soleils as part of his solo music project, Moussadji. He thinks a lot, sometimes too much, and migration certainly hasn’t helped quiet his thoughts. Movement allows him to restore balance between mind and body.

He has always loved dancing. It began in childhood, dancing with his brother while watching RnB music videos and that now-defunct electronic dance style known as tecktonik. In Montréal, he discovered contemporary dance.

His movement is influenced by the physicality of football/soccer, the rhythm of capoeira, and, above all, the sedentary nature of office work. Until very recently, he worked as a web designer. After hours spent in front of a screen, his neck is very stiff — and people often point it out to him.

He enjoys bringing together the different disciplines he has explored in order to create sound-based and interactive experiences.

P.S. He loves brioche vendéenne.

Artistic Direction

At first, I didn’t question it.

Why did I leave the land where I grew up, where my loved ones still live?

At first, I simply wanted to live a new adventure.

At first, I just wanted to leave behind what had disappointed me.

Why continue living at a distance, in the absence of those closest to me?

           Why flourish so far away?

The beginning is gone, but the question remains.

When I return to France or call my loved ones, my former self catches up with me.

                                             I remain suspended.
